Built by a Trader, for Traders

LoanBook is the platform I wished I had when I was running a whole loan trading desk.

The Story

I spent 30+ years in fixed income before building LoanBook. I started at Bear Stearns, moved to Cantor Fitzgerald, then Raymond James, and now Cohen Securities, LLC. Twenty-three of those years were in institutional bond sales and analysis.

In 2017, I built a whole loan trading desk at Banes Capital Group from scratch, with zero equity utilized. By 2021, we hit $3.6M in gross revenue (328% year-over-year growth), made the Inc. 5000 at #1,482, and ran a 71.66% net income ratio. The business was concentrated in credit union solar loan participations (80%+ of volume), with CU auto participations, SBA 504 first liens, Non-QM, and CRE filling out the book.

Throughout that experience, I kept running into the same problem: the analytics tools available to whole loan traders were either designed for the MBS market (wrong asset class), prohibitively expensive (six figures for a Bloomberg terminal), or fragmented across spreadsheets. I needed something that could price a pool of solar participations with the same rigor that Wall Street applies to MBS (Monte Carlo OAS, prepayment modeling, scenario analysis) but adapted for the characteristics of whole loans.

LoanBook is that platform. It applies institutional-grade fixed income analytics to whole loans across every sector: residential, consumer, commercial, and government-guaranteed. It combines the pricing engine with a CRM, trading blotter, due diligence workflow, and market intelligence: the complete toolkit a whole loan trader needs, in one place.
